The Parasol Foundation Scholarship

Zainab told us that the University of Gibraltar was the only university that she wanted to apply to, which led her to finding out about the scholarship: “During my application, I found out about the Parasol scholarship. I could not have studied at University level had I not received this scholarship.”

For those who are academically gifted but do not have the means to pursue a university degree, the Parasol Foundation Scholarship is a once in a lifetime opportunity for gifted students in the Campo de Gibraltar and further afield to study a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) degree… with tuition costs fully covered.

Ruth Parasol, who in 2010 was ranked by The Economist as the 15th wealthiest women in the world, founded the world’s largest publicly traded online gaming company PartyGaming in 1997, and is one of Gibraltar’s most respected citizens.

In 2005, Ms. Parasol sold her remaining gaming interests to focus on raising her children, diversifying, and managing her wealth and giving back through philanthropy generally and to Gibraltar in particular.

“I am happy to provide talented, underprivileged students with the ability to pursue their education in Gibraltar via our Parasol Foundation Trust scholarship in collaboration with the University of Gibraltar.”

Parasol Scholarships are available for prospective Bachelor of Business Administration- Full time (BBA) students and are competitive and awarded for excellence, as determined by the Parasol Scholarships Selection Panel (‘the Selection Panel’).

These scholarships are provided by The Parasol Foundation Trust and cover full course fees for three years of study. In the event the student applies for University accommodation.

The Parasol Foundation Trust may also subsidise the cost of accommodation up to a maximum of £5,000 per student per year. Any such accommodation costs subsidy will be assessed on an individual basis.
