Rodilla opens its first Gibraltar café

Rodilla, one of Europe’s most loved café brands, has officially opened its doors in Gibraltar, bringing its fresh, handcrafted sandwiches and vibrant café concept to the heart of town.

Located at 1 Engineer Lane, just steps from bustling Main Street, the new venue offers 90 square metres of indoor space in one of Gibraltar’s central pedestrian zones. The launch was celebrated with an intimate gathering of local stakeholders and guests, who joined the team for a first taste of Rodilla’s signature offering.

Founded in Madrid in 1939, Rodilla is known for its commitment to freshness, quality ingredients, and creativity in casual dining. The brand’s arrival in Gibraltar reflects the area’s cultural diversity, strong community spirit, and growing appetite for high-quality, accessible food experiences.

The site of the new restaurant, formerly part of the historic Continental Hotel, has been thoughtfully transformed into a bright, modern café space that complements the heritage and energy of Gibraltar’s historic Main Street while offering a fresh, contemporary dining environment. The interior design reflects Rodilla’s latest concept: clean lines, warm tones, and functional comfort — ideal for a quick lunch, coffee break, or relaxed catch-up.

“The decision to open in Gibraltar is part of our expansion plan. We want to continue to grow in places where we can have a significant impact, both economically and socially. In this sense, this opening allows us to connect with local consumers and adapt our proposal to their preferences”, highlights Ángel Fernández, Business Development and Marketing Director of Grupo Rodilla. The new restaurant offers Rodilla’s full selection of fresh, crustless sandwiches — with distinctive flavour combinations such as cheese and walnut, turkey and apple, and blue cheese with rocket — alongside seasonal specials, pastries, and specialty drinks.

Rodilla is already drawing interest as a new go-to spot for locals, commuters, and visitors alike, combining tradition, flavour, and modern convenience in one of Gibraltar’s most recognisable locations.
