We are deeply saddened to hear the news of the tragic loss of Blanca Orozco, the celebrated painter from Algeciras, who has passed away due to cancer, which she had fought from the beginning with the same positive attitude that she always had. Cancer did not prevent her from keeping active and creative until the end. As she herself wrote in our paper, she could not think of doing anything else other than painting, and her extensive portfolio is testament to her passion for art.
Blanca Orozco, who had been living in Tarifa for years, where her studio was located, always used to recall with a smile that one of her first exhibitions took place in Algeciras, in the Cajasur Hall, together with her friend Fátima Conesa. She also had fond memories of the time she used to live, study and paint in Berlin.

With a unique and personal style, and being very involved in the cultural life of the region, Orozco even exhibited some of her work in such unusual locations like castles and archaeological sites such as Baelo Claudia, where the echo of her last exhibition, “Pedes in terra ad sidera visus”, still remains.

We hope these words can express our deepest condolences for such a terrible loss, and send our love to her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
