With less than a month before the fateful 31st October, Spaniards and British Citizens are asking themselves whether a disorderly no-deal Brexit was intentional.

It is well known that the referendum was carried by a slim majority, but a majority none the less which took the side of the Eurosceptics and voted for a withdrawal. The powers that be are obliged to abide by the decision of the people, whether they like it or not…

That said, it is difficult to understand that such a serious and transcendental matter should have been carried out with such obstinacy and a seeming lack of common sense. It would appear that the path taken by Boris Johnson’s government is going to create problems where there are currently none, and that such an overreaction is going to cause headaches as well as disruption to millions of people who currently live in peace and harmony. What good is discord and bitterness where there was calm and understanding?

At Reach, we have from day 1, strongly championed the human rights of free and decent people who live on both sides of the Frontier. These people are the great majority and are entitled to assurances that those who govern behave sensibly and do what is best for the welfare of their populations.

If a hard Brexit occurs on the 1st November amid chaos, heavy hearts and the distress of the people, it will be due to the behaviour, in the first place of the British Prime Minister for his irresponsibility in giving priority to his separatist views, which are, of course respectable, over and above the welfare of the people, including those who agree and disagree with the European Union.

The hope is that reason will prevail and that the British Parliament, which has been sadly side-lined, is given the opportunity of putting paid to the government’s obsession in order to negotiate a withdrawal which causes less harm and prejudice to those who are not at fault for what has happened.

When the moment comes, in less than 45 days, we counsel for progress, understanding and healthy relationships among the common people and those with common sense so that the terrifying effects of that withdrawal do not leave an indelible black mark on the histories of either the United Kingdom or the European Union
