a\u00f1os, en la misi\u00f3n Akatsuki, de la Agencia Espacial Japonesa (JAXA)&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNecesitamos estudiar Venus para aprender m\u00e1s sobre el efecto invernadero, que ya hemos empezado a sufrir en La Tierra, y averiguar cu\u00e1l ser\u00eda ese punto de no retorno a partir del cual ya no se podr\u00eda hacer nada\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Al astrof\u00edsico Javier Peralta le brillan los ojos cuando habla de la Misi\u00f3n Akatsuki (que significa \u2018Amanecer\u2019), y de la que, de un tiempo a esta parte, se ha convertido en su especialidad investigadora: la observaci\u00f3n y an\u00e1lisis del cielo de Venus.\u00bb <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Natural de Algeciras, Peralta lleva casi cinco a\u00f1os residiendo en Jap\u00f3n, trabajando para la Agencia Espacial Japonesa (JAXA) tras conseguir una de las m\u00e1s prestigiosas becas a nivel internacional (\u201cun sue\u00f1o hecho realidad\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero a\u00fan no sabe qu\u00e9 le deparar\u00e1 el futuro, cuando termine su contrato en el pa\u00eds nip\u00f3n. \u201cMe gustar\u00eda regresar si no a Espa\u00f1a, s\u00ed al menos a Europa, por estar m\u00e1s cerca de la familia y porque son ya muchos a\u00f1os de vida n\u00f3mada, pero los que nos dedicamos a la investigaci\u00f3n lo tenemos complicado: la investigaci\u00f3n se ha \u2018uberizado\u2019, con escaso n\u00famero de contratos y de corta duraci\u00f3n\u2026 La situaci\u00f3n es de pena\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure Peralta <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>La pasi\u00f3n de Javier Peralta por el planeta vecino viene de m\u00e1s atr\u00e1s, y se afianz\u00f3 durante sus a\u00f1os de trabajo en la misi\u00f3n Venus Expr\u00e9ss (que culmin\u00f3 en 2014), de la Agencia Espacial Europea (ESA), tras estudiar Astrof\u00edsica en la Universidad de La Laguna (Tenerife), comenzar su doctorado en Bilbao y trabajar tambi\u00e9n con datos de la Mars Express de ESA y las misiones Galileo y Messenger de NASA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLa peculiaridad de la misi\u00f3n espacial japonesa, que alcanz\u00f3 la inserci\u00f3n orbital en diciembre de 2015, es que cuenta con c\u00e1maras que captan los diferentes niveles de nubes existentes en la atm\u00f3sfera de Venus, estudiando un fen\u00f3meno muy espec\u00edfico de este planeta: la superrotaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica\u201d, explica Peralta, que acaba de publicar un extenso art\u00edculo sobre el \u201coc\u00e9ano de aire y nubes\u201d de Venus en la prestigiosa revista de The Planetary Society, y que se muestra convencido de que la divulgaci\u00f3n es esencial para el avance del conocimiento cient\u00edfico, aunque, lamentablemente, algunas editoriales especializadas pretendan \u201cconvertirla en un coto cerrado, y s\u00f3lo al alcance, previo pago, de instituciones y universidades con fondos cada vez m\u00e1s reducidos\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante sus breves d\u00edas de descanso en Algeciras, en los que tambi\u00e9n ha tenido tiempo para impartir una conferencia en el marco de Diverciencia, este especialista en la la din\u00e1mica atmosf\u00e9rica nos explica que \u201cVenus tiene vientos muy fuertes, de m\u00e1s de 400 kil\u00f3metros por hora; su atm\u00f3sfera gira unas 60 veces m\u00e1s deprisa que la superficie del planeta, y a\u00fan no se sabe por qu\u00e9\u2026 Ese misterio es el que la Misi\u00f3n Akatsuki trata de desvelar\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"664\" height=\"443\" a\u00f1ade que \u201cel fen\u00f3meno de la superrotaci\u00f3n no s\u00f3lo se da en Venus, sino tambi\u00e9n en Tit\u00e1n (una de las lunas de Saturno) y en muchos exoplanetas llamados \u2018Hot Jupiters\u2019 por ser, aproximadamente, del tama\u00f1o de J\u00fapiter y estar muy cerca de sus estrellas en sus respectivos sistemas solares, y con diferencias de temperaturas enormes entre su lado diurno y el nocturno\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esto ya, de por s\u00ed (puesto que permite ahondar en el conocimiento del universo), justificar\u00eda por s\u00ed solo cualquier nueva misi\u00f3n a Venus (la India planea la misi\u00f3n Shukrayaan-1 para el a\u00f1o 2023 y puede haber otra europea, EnVision, en torno a 2032), pero, seg\u00fan advierte Peralta, el mayor reto consiste en lo que nos pueda aportar, a los terr\u00edcolas, el estudio de su enorme efecto invernadero, el mayor de todo el sistema solar, como ya confirm\u00f3 el c\u00e9lebre Carl Sagan en su tesis doctoral. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u201cCuando observamos Venus en el cielo, por la noche, vemos que parece la m\u00e1s brillante de las estrellas\u2026 Eso es as\u00ed porque refleja gran parte de la luz del Sol y, en consecuencia, absorbe muy poca. Deber\u00eda ser un planeta oscuro y fr\u00edo, y, sin embargo, su superficie es mucho m\u00e1s caliente de lo que pens\u00e1bamos, con una temperatura de unos 450 \u00baC, y la principal causa est\u00e1 en los elevados niveles de di\u00f3xido de carbono existentes en su atm\u00f3sfera\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"664\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Actualmente, seg\u00fan explica Peralta, la atm\u00f3sfera de Venus est\u00e1 compuesta, en un 98 %, por CO2, que no deja escapar la radiaci\u00f3n al espacio y la devuelve a la superficie, produciendo un sobrecalentamiento brutal\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El desaf\u00edo est\u00e1 en ver, seg\u00fan el cient\u00edfico algecire\u00f1o, \u201cqu\u00e9 pas\u00f3 en Venus para que el efecto invernadero se disparase de esa manera, y qu\u00e9 podemos hacer en la Tierra para impedir que el cambio clim\u00e1tico nos conduzca al mismo destino, evitando llegar a ese punto en el que
